Mahatma Gandhi became a global symbol of nonviolent resistance, helping lead India’s struggle against British rule through a philosophy rooted in truth, discipline, and peaceful action.
Throughout his life, Gandhi also practiced fasting as a form of spiritual discipline and protest. He fasted in response to violence, for communal unity, and in pursuit of social change. To Gandhi, fasting was more than abstaining from food. It was an act of sacrifice intended to awaken the conscience without causing harm to another person.
This portrait honors a man who demonstrated that strength does not always have to be loud. Sometimes strength is the discipline to sacrifice, the courage to stand for something, and the conviction to remain committed to it.

I painted Satisfy My Soul live during a Caribbean brunch, surrounded by reggae music, the smell of Caribbean food, and people from islands all across the Caribbean. You could feel the energy in the room, and I wanted all of that to live inside this painting.
I was drawn to this image of Bob because of his hand resting on his heart. To me, it represents everything he stood for: love, peace, unity, and living with purpose. His music is timeless, but it’s his message that continues to inspire me. My hope is that this painting carries a little of that same spirit every time someone stands in front of it.
